Dear Me…
I know right now you’re hearing that little voice again, the one trying to convince you that a drink might not be such a big deal. It’s saying you’re in control, that maybe you overreacted by quitting, or that one night wouldn’t change much. Maybe it’s telling you you’ve earned this, that you’re capable of handling a few drinks—no harm done.
Or maybe something is weighing on you, stirring up stress or worry, and that voice is pushing you to seek comfort in what feels familiar. Maybe it’s whispering that you deserve a break, that it’s unreasonable to “deny yourself” any longer.
Or, maybe everything is great. You’re feeling calm, content, and it’s tempting to think that a drink or two could make this good feeling even better. That’s how it works, right?
But here’s the thing: there’s always a reason we can come up with to drink. It doesn’t take much. But today, let’s do something different. Instead of giving in, just press pause.
Take a breath. You don’t have to make a decision for forever. You don’t even have to make a decision for tomorrow. Just today.
Remember, you made this choice for a reason. You know what happens when you take that first drink—the uncertainty, the risk. You decided, for yourself, that it wasn’t worth it. And while you might not be feeling that clarity right now, that’s okay. You don’t have to have all the answers today. You just need to hold on for one more day.
You have the freedom to choose again tomorrow. For now, give yourself that space.
With love and understanding,
Me
